Current Proposals under the Sustainable Communities Act

We have selected 30 proposals from those short listed in the Act's first round as our Vision for Local Sustainability. The list is available here.

The 199 short listed proposals from the Act's first round are available here. These proposals are currently before the government and Local Works are calling on them to be agreed and implemented.

The Sustainable Communities Act Amendment Act
In April 2010 Local Works successfully saw the Sustainable Communities Act Amendment Act pass through Parliament. This means the Sustainable Communities Act will be an ongoing process for communities and councils to submit proposals to government. It also ensure that the 'second round' of that process will begin by the end of 2010 (note: the 'first round' started in October 2008). Parish and Town Councils are also now formally included in the Act's process.

Local Works Steering Group suggested proposals
The Local Works Steering Group has put together a list of proposals across a wide range of areas that would make a real difference to promoting the sustainability of your community. These suggested proposals are worded so that you can put them directly to your council.
